Movie review: The Real Anthony Fauci

posted: November 20, 2024

tl;dr: Watch this excellent documentary if you can’t spend the time to read the book...

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) is a man on a mission: to uncover the truth about what led to the COVID-19 pandemic and everything that followed the emergence of the virus. Anthony Fauci is a central figure in both the origin of and response to the virus, and has featured prominently in RFK Jr.’s last two books. Being more interested in the origin of COVID-19, I read and reviewed RFK Jr.’s latest book The Wuhan Cover-Up: And the Terrifying Bioweapons Arms Race. RFK Jr.’s book are long and filled with thousands of footnotes, so I wasn’t planning to read The Real Anthony Fauci. Fortunately I found this two-part, nearly three-hour documentary.

The Real Anthony Fauci documentary covers Fauci’s fifty-plus year career in the U.S. government’s medical and public health bureaucracy, with particular emphasis on the AIDS epidemic and COVID-19. Fauci’s biases come across strongly: much of the response to COVID-19 was predictable based on his past actions during the AIDS crisis and other virus scares. Fauci strongly prefers vaccines to therapeutics, to cite just one example.

I have no strong views on whether hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin are effective preventatives or treatments for early-stage COVID-19. I haven’t studied the issue to anywhere near the depth that I’ve studied the origin of COVID-19 topic. But it is clear that there was a government-led (i.e. Fauci-led) propaganda campaign to demonize both, which reached a peak when the mainstream press referred to the widely-used ivermectin as “horse dewormer”. This was clearly meant to convince the public that there was no therapeutic for COVID-19, which was a necessary precondition for the Emergency Use Authorization of Fauci’s preferred solution: the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines.

The Real Anthony Fauci documentary presents a wealth of information, so there are bound to be some errors. I did find a small one: Francis Collins’s infamous “devastating takedown” email is shown during a segment on the origin of COVID-19. The email actually refers to the Great Barrington Declaration, which is about the response to COVID-19, not the origin.

The production values of The Real Anthony Fauci documentary are top notch. Whereas the book has an impressive number of footnotes, the movie has an impressive number of clips. The producers must have access to a huge trove of indexed video going back many decades; perhaps artificial intelligence was used to search for and find relevant footage. RFK Jr. narrates portions of the movie and is interviewed, as are other Fauci critics. The soundtrack provides a threatening undertone to the topics discussed. The result is a compelling, eminently watchable documentary.

Fauci is often portrayed in the mainstream press as the world’s most brilliant virologist, reigning at the top of his profession for fifty years. In reality he is a cunning bureaucrat with many conflicts of interest and biases, who operates far behind the front lines of science (the lab) and medicine (patients). Once more people realize the truth about the origin of COVID-19, Fauci will go down in history as the 21st century’s Dr. Josef Mengele. The Real Anthony Fauci movie will help in this process.

I watched The Real Anthony Fauci movie for free on X, formerly Twitter. The video streaming was nearly flawless, with just one twenty-second pause with a spinning wheel. X has come a long way from the days when Twitter was a microblogging platform with a 140-character limit on posts.
